Genoese towers in Corsica are a series of coastal defense towers constructed by the Republic of Genoa between 1530 and 1620 to defend against attacks by Barbary pirates.
The tower in Ile Rousse (in the Corsican dialect: “Torra di l'Isula Rossa”) is still in an acceptable condition.
It is considered an iconic view, along with the lighthouse of the Pietra Island where it is based.
