About this spot
The Gulf Stream ensures that this beautiful place enjoys a real microclimate all year round. Allow yourself a full day to explore the island's charming homes and rugged coves. And forget the car! There is no motorized traffic here. Everything is done by bike or on foot. Bréhat, the only island of the department of the Côtes d'Armor that is an independent municipality, consists of two main islands and is 3.5 kilometers long and 1.5 kilometers wide. In the south you will find the town and the church from the 16th century. In the north, the landscape is strongly reminiscent of Ireland.

Ile de Bréhat is also called the Flower Island and that is of course not for nothing. Hydrangeas, mimosa, mulberry, eucalyptus, aloe, camellias… this island deserves its nickname! But the flower that most strongly symbolizes this island is the agapanthus. From June to September, this blue-purple flower blooms in Bréhat at every intersection. The plant used to be brought from South Africa by sailors. However, other exotic plants such as the agave or the echium also bloom on the island. There's a good reason for that! It almost never freezes here. As for the birds, more than 120 bird species have been identified on the island. In spring you will undoubtedly hear tits, but also finches, robins, larks and song thrushes. A rich flora and fauna can thus be found on this subtropical island, which is popular with a wide audience. Hikers, cyclists, nature lovers, photographers, everyone can indulge themselves here!
