About this spot
Haystack Rock at Cannon Beach is one of the iconic landmarks of the Oregon coast. The 235-foot tall monolith is a nesting site for many sea birds. Tide pools at the base of the rock are home to sea stars, crabs, sea anemones and other intertidal species.
The Needles are a group of tall, pointy sea stacks in close proximity to Haystack Rock. Some photographers consider them a more photogenic subject.
