About this spot
The Hayden Valley area is a large area stretching approximately 4 miles (6.4 km). This area is home to abundant wildlife including bison, elk, wolves, Trumpeter Swans, Canada Geese, White Pelicans and more. Wildlife viewing is best early in the morning and late in the evening. You can frequently see large groups of tourist with spotting scopes looking for the elusive wolves found here.

Bison or elk jams on the road are quite frequent. The Yellowstone river snakes its way through the valley, at times right alongside the roadway and other times at a distance.
