About this spot
A Roman Fort just a few minutes walk from the Hardknott pass well worth stopping and having a look around. The fort was built between AD120 and AD138 and is located on a spectacular site overlooking the pass which forms part of the Roman road from Ravenglass to Ambleside and Brougham at Penrith.
