About this spot
Dead Horse Point is a natural overlook on the rim of the canyon of the Colorado River with views of the river and Canyonlands National Park. The view from here is one of the iconic views of the American Southwest. The point is located within Dead Horse Point State Park. Reportedly, the point is named because it was formerly used as a natural corral (by fencing off the narrow access point between the cliffs on either side of the point) where horses often died of exposure.
