About this spot
Castello di Brolio is a famous and beautiful Tuscan castle in the southern Chianti countryside, situated on top of a secluded hill a few kilometers from Gaiole. It is famous for its beautiful architecture, estate and views, but presumably also for some ghosts and the cradle of one of the region's most famous wines.

The castle has been the estate of the Ricasoli family since 1141, but the appearance of the castle as we see it today is largely due to a 19th century family member. Since it was one of the most strategic places in Florence for centuries, it has been attacked and destroyed many times throughout its history.

Every time it was rebuilt after its destruction, it received a facelift in the Gothic style in the 19th century.

In addition to the particularly beautiful castle, you will also be impressed by the Renaissance gardens with typical geometrically shaped shrubs, the English forests and the beautiful panoramic views of the Chianti region. On a clear day you can even see all the way to Siena.
