Every year, a few weeks before Easter, Carnaval takes over the city of Halle. In the tradition of "mardi gras" everybody dresses up and the groups prepare for months to build a float to compete for the best float, costume or show. The party goes on for 3 days (day and night) and people drink and dance in the many pubs or on the town square and surrounding streets or go for rides at the big funfair.
