About this spot
Blake Mere is a small pool at a lofty height, up on Morridge Moor. There aren’t many natural water formations in the Peak District, the only other major one to note is a stone’s throw away on the
Roaches, which is Doxey Pool. Blake Mere is also known as Mermaid’s Pool and is steeped in local legend and myths.

The legends say this dark, bottomless water is haunted by a mermaid. The legend of the mermaid has a few theories behind it, including a witch who turned herself into a water-bound nymph or a sailor bringing her back from the sea.

People say the mermaid rises from the pool at midnight during a full moon to attract single men into the pool to drag them to its bottomless depths. So not one for night shots if you fall into the above category!
