About this spot
Bangkok Flower Market (Pak Khlong Talat) is the largest wholesale and retail fresh flower market in Bangkok and is ranked in the Top 10 of the world’s flower markets. Pak Khlong Talat means “market at the mouth of the canal” and originally started as a floating market in the early 18th century.

Local florists visit the market early in the morning to stock their shops. You will find roses, orchids, lilies, gerbera daisies, jasmine, carnations, and chrysanthemums—and especially marigolds. The marigold is believed to represent God’s perfect light and their color symbolizes Monday, the day of the week on which the late Monarch was born. You will often see them in good luck garlands. Most flowers are sold in packs of 50 or 100.

The Flower Market is a great place to watch the Thai art of Phuang Malai. The garlands are made by threading a needle through tiny buds until something worthy of being offered to a god is created.
