About this spot
Melbourne is known for street murals and one of the best places to experience this vibrant art is AC/DC Lane. Originally Corporation Lane, it was changed to AC/DC Lane in honor of the Australian rock band.
The street is internationally famous for its music-themed art. Each corner, doorway, and electric meter is covered with paint. New artists love this location because it does not require a permit, so what you see one day may be gone the next. However, there are a few signature pieces that are permanent installations.
When Melbourne’s mayor christened the lane he proclaimed, “As the song says, there is a Highway to Hell, but this is a laneway to heaven! Let us rock.”
