About this spot
The limestone valley was formed during the last ice age, when glacial melt water spilled over from Malham tarn and made its way south before falling over the enormous cliffs of Malham cove. Whilst usually dry, there was one occasion in living memory (December 2015) when there'd been so much rain that the water once again flowed down this way - creating a spectacular waterfall at the head of the valley and temporarily reforming the tallest ancient waterfall in England at Malham cove.
