United Kingdom Windgather Rocks

About this spot
Windgather Rocks is a relatively small
gritstone outcrop that is positioned right on
the Derbyshire and Cheshire border not far
from Kettleshulme. It forms the northern end
of the ridge that leads to Shining Tor near the
Cat and Fiddle.

It is believed it derives its name from exactly what it says on the tin, that it gathers wind from the west as it sweeps up from the Cheshire Plain. This can often make it a very exposed place to be and challenging photographically as the
wind threatens image shake. Don’t despair, like anywhere it does have its good days!
