About this spot
Nine Stones Close is a Neolithic stone circle located on Harthill Moor. Despite the name there are now only four standing stones remaining. They are the
largest example of standing stones in Derbyshire with the tallest being roughly 2m high. To the south is Robin Hood’s Stride and it is thought that the
spiritual significance of the stone circle in relation to the outcrop is that the major southern moon sets between the two stone pillars on the stride.
