About this spot
Dove Dale (or Dovedale) is one of the
highlights of the Peak District and from a
tourist’s point of view, it doesn’t get more
popular. It’s no surprise though, with easy
accessibility for almost anyone, leading
through a gorgeous limestone gorge with
running crystal clear waters. It’s hard not to fall in love with it.

However, photographically speaking it is often overlooked. The crowds put most off from visiting, but visit at either end of the day and you’re more likely to have the area, usually invaded by thousands, all to yourself.

Head up to the summit of Thorpe Cloud and
you command stunning views down the dale
and over the rural fields leading to Ashbourne.
