About this spot
Roystone Rocks lies between the villages
of Pikehall and Parwich in the southern
Peak District. This is limestone country
but Roystone Rocks comprises of a darker
limestone, perhaps magnesium limestone.
The area is unlike anywhere else in the Peak District, rocks jut out of the ground sharply at all angles. Trees often grow out of the crevices of these rocks and sometimes they even grow along the ground rather than into the sky. It truly is a unique place.
