About this spot
Arbor Low is a Neolithic henge monument
near Youlgreave. This large stone circle
consists of around 50 limestone blocks,
which are laid down flat, with monoliths
at the entrance of the stone circle. It is
thought that the stones may once have
been standing in shallow pits but it is more commonly believed that they were never intended to be stood upright like most stone circles. The henge is set within an oval earthen bank.

300m away from Arbor Low lies Gib Hill, a large burial mound. It is believed to be of Neolithic age but due to the complex construction of the burial mound, part of it could have been constructed separately during the Bronze Age.
