About this spot
Bakewell is the true heart of the Peak District and is the only town within the National Park. Through it courses the River Wye with its clear waters filled with trout, that can easily be spotted from the river banks. The town is a popular tourist attraction, bustling most days along its market streets.

Bakewell is also home to the Bakewell Pudding, a jam pastry with an egg and ground almond filling which has been popularised nationally (but not
to be confused with) the well-known Bakewell
Tart. Three shops in Bakewell claim to be the
originators of the recipe.
