Five Wells chambered cairn is a Megalithic
burial cairn on the hillside between
Taddington and Chelmorton, easily accessed from the A6. It is reputed to be the highest Megalithic tomb in Britain at around 435m. It is believed the tomb dates back to anywhere between 4500BC and 2000BC.
The cairn, at the summit of the hill is comprised of limestone and affords good views in a 360 degree direction. Views stretch mainly over the White Peak, though distant views of the Dark
Peak can be seen.
