Rising from the small village of Edale is
Grindsbrook Clough, perhaps the best ascent of Kinder Scout. This rocky and classic ascent route winds its way up under the shadow of Grindslow Knoll and Ringing Roger. Towards the end it turns into a memorable, easy
scramble to the summit plateau. The first part of this chapter concentrates on the waterfalls you will encounter on the way up, topping out at the summit is up to you!

The waterfalls are by no means the largest in the Peak District. They are, however, quite unusual as the peat-coloured water flows, crashes and tumbles over the slate bed. The river then carries on all the way to Edale below.
