About this spot
Although in close proximity to Snow Canyon, Johnson Canyon is not part of the State Park. It is administered by the Red Cliffs Desert Reserve and no fee is charged for visiting. Johnson Arch proper is surprisingly massive, extending 200 feet across, with a very thick span.

The Reserve is known for its abundant variety of wildlife and avians (particularly raptors).

The Reserve’s Visitor Center is located at 10 N, 100 E in St. George. It is well worth a stop, if only for their great hiking map of the area. It also administers Red Mountain, and the Red Cliffs, both spots featured in this guide.
