About this spot
Fort Flagler Historical State Park forms the northern end of Marrowstone Island. The park consists of an old army fort built in the 1890s to defend the mouth of Puget Sound (and was one of the three forts making up the “Triangle of Fire”, the others being Fort Worden and Fort Casey). The park includes the remains of many gun batteries and historic army buildings. The park is surrounded by saltwater on three sides, having over 19,000 feet of marine shoreline. Views include the Olympic Mountains, Port Townsend, Mount Baker, the Cascade Mountains, the Straits of Juan de Fuca, and Puget Sound.
