About this spot
Marina Barrage is built across the mouth of the Marina Channel, creating Singapore’s 15th freshwater reservoir, and the first in the heart of the city. Boasting a catchment area of 10,000 hectares, it is the island’s largest and most urbanised catchment. Together with two other reservoirs, Marina Barrage has increased Singapore’s water catchment from half to two-thirds of the country’s land area.

Featuring a massive rooftop lawn, this landmark is popular among locals for picnics and kite-flying, as it also benefits from the strong sea breeze. The water level within the Marina Reservoir is kept constant all year round, making it an ideal place for water-based recreation, such as kayaking and dragonboating.
