About this spot
Kamiak Butte towers above the surrounding farmlands by about 1,000 feet. The butte is elongated, running in an east-west direction for about two miles. The northern side of the mountain is forest covered, limited the views. However, the south side is mostly open, providing wide views of the surrounding Palouse hills to the south and east. Kamiak Butte County Park covers the ridgeline and much of the northern side of the butte. The viewpoints on the ridge are accessed by the Pine Ridge Trail, a 3.5-mile loop with an elevation gain of 900 feet.

Topping out at 3,641 feet, taller than Steptoe Butte by about 30 feet, Kamiak Butte is the second tallest point in Whitman County.
