The John F Kelly Homestead Ranch contains one of the best preserved log cabins in the Palouse as well as a barn and a number of other buildings. The log cabin was built in 1872.
John F. Kelley and his brother, Major Joseph N. Kelley, established their 320-acre homestead in 1872. Major Kelley arrived in the Washington Territory in 1870 as Army officer and Native American agent. John Kelley arrived in the area a year later. The cabin was occupied until the early 1890s and is believed to be the oldest building in the Oakesdale area. It is a Washington State Registered Historic Place.
