About this spot
With so many waterfalls in Mt. Rainier National Park, it is sometimes difficult to pick out the most outstanding ones. This very popular falls was chosen for its beauty and ease of access. With several viewpoints of the falls to choose from, the opportunities for photographs abound. Silver Falls is located on the rocky Ohanapecosh River and surrounded by virgin forest. The trail crosses the river between the upper and lower sections of the falls. In the spring the abundance of melt water causes the river to thunder through this area creating a damp, cooling mist over the trail and rocks.
