About this spot
Myrtle Falls is a lively, 72-foot high, waterfall located close to the upper Paradise parking lot at the lower end of Edith Creek Basin. This lovely little falls has an iconic view of Mt. Rainier including the scenic bridge over Edith Creek. Unfortunately, it is very difficult to photograph. The trees have grown in around the falls and the viewpoint, leaving only a single spot to set tripod and camera. Partially blocked by trees, shadows and splotchy light can be a problem. Then there is the difference between the brightness of the glacier covered mountain and rocks and trees surrounding the falls. Be prepared to face these difficulties when preparing to photograph the falls and enjoy the challenge.
