This lone dead tree is just 100 yards south of Heron Pond and is well photographed. This shot is an early morning sunburst with a lifting fog in the background. The tree is sometimes visited by groups of deer or birds.

Red deer hind and calf crossing Heron Pond. Red deer often go into the ponds, one of their favoured crossing points is where the Boating Pool joins Heron Pond. Hinds can be very protective of their young and will chase off people and dogs who get too near.
