City Hall of Lyon on the square of Terreaux with at the left the Bartholdi Fountain. The commonly accepted origin is that the name "Terreaux" comes from the Latin "Terralia" meaning ditch and that a ditch was found here until the sixteenth century. Another origin speaks of the land used to dig these ditches and it is this hillock that would have remained in the memories
