FREE EVENT

Friday, September 20th – 6pm to 9pm

This autumn, PhotoHound is delighted to be joining forces with the team of Skylum Software to host the first ever Skylum X PhotoHound photo walk! Join us to photograph some of London’s world class photo spots, meet fellow photographers, a chance to bag some exclusive Skylum swag. We’ll be awarding prizes for the top photos captured that day.

Where

The photo walk will kick off at Leake Street Graffiti Tunnel.

How to find Leake Street Graffiti Tunnel entrance:

Stand in London Waterloo station with your back to the entrance of the Underground. Ahead of you (to the left of the toilets) is a large exit leading to steps going down. Take these steps to exit the station. Turn left at the bottom of the steps and follow the road left and around the side of the station (one of the first shops you should pass on your left after turning the corner is Costcutter). Walk straight for about 3 minutes and then take the street to the left: Leake Street! From there, just walk towards the alley and you’ll begin to enter Leake Street Graffiti Tunnel.

The photo walk will be led by experienced travel photographer and Skylum Ambassador, Mathew Browne, who will share a variety of tips and tricks to help you get some fantastic images and look at the streets of London from a different perspective. On the way you’ll capture iconic landmarks, colourful graffiti, urban and street scenes – the sky’s literally the limit!

This event is completely free and open to photographers of all abilities. The walk will be at a leisurely pace and is on mainly level ground with plenty of time given for you to get your shots.

Our photo walk kicks off at colourful Leake Street Graffiti Tunnel, an Instagram favourite, and one of London’s most famous urban street art spots.

London Eye

Following a route along the Southbank, we’ll meander along the River Thames, taking in several bridges and iconic viewpoints en route including the London Eye.

We’ll stop to check out the action at South Bank Skatepark– always a great spot to catch the skate boarders at play, and of course, more cool graffiti. We’ll also pass the Southbank Centre and National Theatre, some of London’s most divisive Brutalist architectural buildings.

Our photo walk concludes at the Millennium Bridge, which offers great views across the Thames to St Paul’s Cathedral and back to Tate Modern, great for architectural details and the perfect spot for some blue hour photography.

Our photo walk concludes at the Millennium Bridge, which offers great views across the Thames to St Paul’s Cathedral, as well as being an interesting architectural shot itself.

What to bring

Your camera with batteries and memory cards ready to go. Bring a tripod if you have one (although at some spots we may not be able to use them). Consider bringing just one or two lenses and traveling light. Dress comfortably for the season and time of day and remember that we’ll be on our feet for about 3 hours
