Zelené Pleso, also known as Green Lake, is a stunning glacial lake located in the High Tatras mountain range of Slovakia, nestled at an altitude of 1,551 meters above sea level. The lake is renowned for its emerald green waters, which derive their color from the surrounding glacial sediments. Zelené Pleso is a popular destination for hikers and nature enthusiasts, offering spectacular views of the surrounding peaks and valleys. The well-marked trail to the lake starts at the Tatranské Matliare or Biela Voda, taking hikers through dense forests and picturesque landscapes. Near the lake, visitors can find Chata pri Zelenom Plese, a mountain hut providing food and accommodation, making it an excellent base for exploring the High Tatras region.
