About this spot
Hwaseong Fortress in the city of Suwon in South Korea is a fortification built in the late 18th century by order of King Jeongjo (1752-1800). Partially destroyed during the Korean War, it was largely restored in the 1970s. In 1997 the fortress was included in the UNESCO World Heritage List as a World Heritage Site.
