About this spot
Glass Beach is the well-known southern beach of MacKerricher State Park in Fort Bragg. Glass Beach gets its name from the smooth colorful glass pieces that you can find in the pebbly beach. The site was once a trash dump so broken bottles from garbage cans of local residents have now been smoothed into treasures to be found and photographed. You must leave these treasures in situ - it is illegal to remove any glass from Glass Beach.

Children will love to explore whilst you photograph, but do take care near the water and check the tides. There are more trails along the bluff that go south from Glass Beach to other glassy beaches that are outside of the state park boundary.
