The Arecibo Observatory was the largest radio telescope in the world from 1963 until 2016. Because of its purpose, unique location and massive size, it's been used as a setting in numerous films, TV shows, and video games. Most famously, the observatory was used by Ellie Arroway to conduct research in the film Contact and by James Bond as he faced off against a nemesis in Golden Eye.
